On Sept. 7,2009 around noon, I was taken to Rutherford Hosp. by ambulance from Lake Lure. My pace maker had quit working due to a fractured lead. Your EM was filled with angles. I have never seen a more professional, compassionate group of people in my life. The PA(The one that looks like Tim Hudson)was outstanding. He took charge and adjusted the shocks to my heart so that they were effective, but not so unconfortable. I felt completely safe with him. He sent me to the Sanger Heart Unit in Charlotte via helicopter. We are from out of town and my wife had no idea how to get to the Sanger Clinic. One of your male nurses wrote out turn by turn directions for her. As they were taking me from the ER to the helicopter, some of your staff wished me good luck. Again, compassion. The helicopter staff, who were also great, shocked my heart until we arrived at the Sanger Clinic. Once there they put in a temporary lead until the next day when the implanted a new pace maker and defibrillator. I am fine now, thanks to your ER staff that was on duty, day shift, Sept. 7, 2009. I wish I could thank each and every one. Please do that for me. I will never forget them.
